The Bioenergetic Practices for Each Energy Center serve as a somatic movement companion to the Joy Codes meditation series, designed to help you embody, express, and integrate the energetic shifts initiated by each meditation. This guided movement library brings each energy center to life through the body and activates somatic healing through intentional posture + practice.
While the guided meditations invite you into deep states of surrender, restoration, and inner alchemy, these bioenergetic postures offer a way to ground those subtle experiences into the body. Inspired by Wilhelm Reich’s characterology and Alexander Lowen’s Bioenergetic Therapy, informed by somatic trauma research, and tailored to the blocked emotions and energetic qualities of each chakra, these postures and practices help you discharge stored tension, restore nervous system flow, and ground the emotional insights of each module into embodied reality.
These practices help complete the cycle of healing—so you don’t just feel better during the meditation, but actually begin to rewire your relationship to emotion, presence, and power in your daily life. Each one is simple, repeatable, and trauma-informed—designed to complement the core guided meditations and deepen your integration.

According to Reich, unresolved emotional experiences are stored as muscular armoring—chronic patterns of holding, tension, or collapse in the body. Over time, this armoring shapes how we breathe, move, feel, and relate.

About the Science:
Wilhelm Reich is considered the originator of body-oriented psychotherapy and the concept of "muscular armoring", which laid the foundation for somatic psychology. These practices help you "de-armor" protective layers in your body that show up as blocks, limitations, frozenness, and stuckness.
Alexander Lowen, a student of Reich, is the founder of Bioenergetic Analysis (Bioenergetic Therapy), which he expanded upon Reich’s theories to create a comprehensive therapeutic system that combines breath, posture, movement, and expressive techniques to release stored emotional tension in the body. The practices herein are inspired by these techniques. Bioenergetics is a modality that explores how emotional trauma and repression are stored in the muscular system and can be released through breath, sound, movement, and posture.
Although the movements, breathwork, and cues in this practice have been drawn from these pioneers, the practices have been intuitively tailored to each energy center and paired with specific breathwork that you can use in the movements, which will ultimately amplify the results of your meditation practice.
